According to authorities, 18-year-old Beau Wilson purchased three magazines of ammunition two days before the shooting
The gunman who shot and killed three people on Monday, May 15 in Farmington, New Mexico, left a note behind, according to police.
The shooter has been identified as 18-year-old Beau Wilson.
Farmington Police Chief Steve Hebbe, during a press conference at Farmington Civic Center Wednesday, said a note was found in the gunman's pocket at the time of his death.
The note reads:
"If your reading this, I'm the end of the chapter. Lay eyes or dear put a finger on my little sister. I promise there will be regrets."
During the investigation, police said Beau Wilson had obtained a substantial amount of ammunition at his residence. Law enforcement officials found approximately 1, 400 rounds of ammunition stored at his home. Authorities also found 10 firearms of varying calibers scattered throughout the residence. However, these weapons, accessible to Beau, did not belong to him.
Investigators said Wilson fired over 100 rounds toward seven houses and 11 vehicles. Victims inside of the vehicles, struck by gunfire, were treated at the ER and released.
According to police, Wilson wore a bulletproof vest at the time of the shooting, similar to law enforcement. Investigators believe the bulletproof vest was "homemade." However, prior to his encounter with officers, he deliberately removed the vest.
Officers found a loaded 9-mm and .22 caliber pistol as well in the surrounding area. According to police, the AR-15 rifle had rounds loaded in the chamber, with an accompanying magazine containing additional rounds.
Shortly after the shooting, police stated Wilson was shot and killed in front of a church nearby.
